Millions ‘lack basic net skills’ http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20236708 Interesting article on the BBC. Funny how we now take digital skills for granted and if you don’t understand the basics, you’re thought of as some kind of dinosaur. Now… I’m off to send a he-mail on my compressor!
Remember the days when ‘My Space’ was the king of Social Network sites, before Mark Zuckerberg invented Facebook and stole its crown. Admittedly by then it was a mish-mash of animated gifs and bad personalisation from its users but its gone back to the drawing board, stripped everything back and redesigned itself. And I actually think it looks good.
With nods to the boards style of Pinterest, Springpad and Tumblr, the new look is so much more aesthetically pleasing.
See what you think…
Brilliantly simple, and very funny…
Creative Review Magazine has picked it’s advertising choices of 2011. I personally love the VW advert best with ‘mini’ Darth Vader. The kid in that costume just captured the inner Jedi in him perfectly (or lack of)! His expression at the end is priceless 🙂
Found this tutorial on Abduzeedo… Had a go myself & though mine wasn’t quite as nice, it’s still a good tutorial to play around with. Bear in mind if you are using Photoshop higher that CS3, there are minute differences in the Brush settings as the parameter areas are named differently, however the parameters are all there. Have fun!
This was my effort… not quite as polished but at least I tried!
Hmmm, we had Janet and John at that age! Might explain why I will never be a web developer extraordinaire!
Amazing detail in these colourful paper models of retro electronic items… Very clever!
How to create a retro geometric lines poster – by Chris Spooner (Blogspoon Graphics.co.uk)
I love infographics at the moment and this one is just brilliant… and so true. After the Oatmeal’s ‘How a Website Design Goes Straight to Hell’ poster struck a nerve, this one is also a spot on observation of us Graphic Designers out there. It’s a hard life but we grin and bear it 🙂
This was created by Amerikan Made Prints a company started by the husband and wife team of Keith and Jenn Bowman. I’ve got to get me one of these (currently sold out) so in the mean time I thought I would share!
